If you are a reader of this blog you know that after years of eating, praying and loving, I became pregnant and had a healthy baby. It wasn’t part of my master plan. In large measure, it was the product of love and libations.
And as you can see from the last few entries, this blog is evolving. I have tried to resist the urge to write about the baby, but it’s nearly impossible. This blog is about my life; and motherhood has been the greatest, transformative adventure of my life. So, I have been writing about it, a lot. (Unfortunately, most of the writing has been on napkins, the back of my hand, and pieces of cardboard so I am WAY behind on my postings.)
However, I am not so self consumed that I now believe that everyone is fascinated with motherhood. Also, there are more mommy blogs than you can shake a stick at. How do I distinguish myself from the pack?
Here are my promises to you. I will do my best to be interesting instead of insipid. I will work hard not to make it seem like I am one of “those moms” who is only interested in poop, pee, and bottles. (Although those topics more interesting now that I have a baby!) I will only post entries that are thought provoking, interesting and funny.
In the interest of true confessions though, motherhood has been much different for me than those on “Teen Moms”, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and in US Weekly. I am no teenager or celebrity. I am a working mother trying to make it work. I have gone to work without showering because the baby pooped all over and needed to get cleaned up. I have secretly rocked my baby while taking a conference call and prayed that she didn’t cry. And, I have gone from wearing statement necklaces to often wearing spit like an accessory…
My life is different, but I am still Chatón. Continue to visit Chaton’s World and stay tuned. You never know what you might read about here!
