A Working Mom's Secret to Success on Valentine's Day: Manage Expectations...

Lady celebrating Valentine's Day at Eddie V's "To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance." - Oscar Wilde  Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. The roots of Valentine’s Day roots go back to St. Valentine, a priest in the early Christian Church known for his compassion and commitment to love. He was a defender of faith, hope, and kindness, reminding us that love is not just a feeling—it’s an action. And, this year I have learned that being free on Valentine's Day is better than living a lie. Valentine's Day, like Christmas, comes every year. However, unlike Christmas, Valentine's Day is about romantic love an...

How to be a Glamorous Mom!

Lots of moms have contacted me about my glamour series.  They have had questions about how to apply certain cosmetics, confessed to following my advice and looking like a new mommy, and have thanked me for sharing what I have learned.  For that reason, and because I have loved all things glamorous since I was playing with Barbies, it's not over!

I have a lot of tips and stories left to share. I'm sure that you're not surprised though. If you have followed this blog you know that I have an endless supply of stories!

Easy Glamour Tip for Moms

Here is the easy glamour tip for today: Look as good as you can, in the least amount of time, for the most cost effective price.

Glamour is the all about projecting an effortless put together image. It is not about putting on airs or buying clothes you can't afford. You can't be glamorous if you're obsessing about how much you paid for your shoes and hoping that you don't scuff them at your event because you couldn't afford them anyway.  You can't be glamorous if you are terrified that the baby will spit up on your dress or you'll spill something on it because you planned to take it back after one wearing.   All that worrying tends to cause wrnkles too. And who wants those?!

Genearlly, I am all about looking like my look costs a fortune even though it actually might only cost as much as a few Happy Meals.  That allows me to splurge on special things on occasion.  We'll discuss splurging later.  Now, it is time to share some deals that I have found.

I perused the web and found some deals for moms who want an affordable glamorous look.  The "beauty in a box" deals below are each only $10.00, but valued at around $50.00. They're for those times when you have a special event and want more than just a basic glamorous look.  The smoky eye option can help you get "Hollywood, Kim Kardashian eyes" even if you live in Rochester, New York! :-) (shout out to my hometown)  Also, the lip liner below is only $3.00.

So, what I am saying is you can buy the one of the eye options and the liner and transform your look for $13.00 + shipping costs.  I know you love your friends, but I won't judge you if you keep these deals to yourself.

 GO FORTH AND BE GLAMOROUS!!!
