If you’ve read my blog, you know that I enjoy a good time, am into fashion, and am passionate about being a good mom. One of the ways that I try to be a good mom is by teaching my daughter what she needs to succeed. She is only two years old, but she is a sponge for knowledge and I am amazed at her capacity for learning. One of the ways that I teach her and also connect with her is by reading. At night, and sometimes during the day, she curls up in my lap to listen to a story. And those times when we read together are so special.
Research shows that children who read at home test better and have an easier time in school. So, I am passionate about encouraging parents to read to their children. For that reason, I was so excited that a PR contact that I made at the BlogHer’12 conference offered me two free books to help support “Jumpstart’s Read for the Record”.

Jumpstart’s premiere national campaign Read for the Record, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, is one day of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy and support Jumpstart in its efforts to promote early childhood education. On October 4th, people across the country will be encouraged to read the children’s book Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad, by David Soman and Jacky Davis, in support of Jumpstart’s mission to work towards the day that every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
I was thrilled to receive two free copies of The Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad. Last year, we had a ladybug themed birthday party and my sister read The Ladybug Girl Dresses Up book and it was a hit with my daughter. So, I am very excited to read this latest book to her and very excited to support this reading initiative.
If you would like to support Jumpstart’s Read for the Record and would like a copy of the book, let me know. With the short deadline, there isn’t time for an elaborate contest. I will send the book to the first person who leaves a comment that tells me that they want it. Easy peasy!!!
Happy Friday!
