Celebrating Black Maternal Health Week #BMHW25

Mom and three kids Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Black Maternal Health Week April 11-17, 2025 I am a Black mom to three wonderful children. I was blessed to have three successful births. While I am an attorney, my third delivery highlighted the potential risks that occur when a physician fails to listen to the birthing person. Initially, I chalked it up to the physician involved and limited it to my personal birthing experience. Then, I learned that I was not special. How I Finally Got to Attend the 2012 Democratic National Convention (almost)

As mentioned in my previous post, I wish that I was in Charlotte, NC attending the Democratic National Convention. I have watched the convention every day from the comfort of my home. I even started watching it on C-Span so I didn't have my viewing time interrupted by commercials!

I enjoyed the speeches, the commentary, and supported the festivities by toasting the speakers on my couch with a glass of red wine.  I laughed. I cried. I cheered! But still, I had been wishing that I could be there.

Well, thanks to my dear friend, Amanda, "Chaton Turner" was was able to attend the convention on the final day for President Obama's speech.

Check out these photos:

My friend Amanda who is a super delegate was kind enough to get me a front row seat!

She also made sure that I took an historic shot to prove that I was there!

I was also able to enjoy the excitement and appreciate the crowds "first hand"!

Amanda recently started tweeting under the handle, @finehawklady (http://twitter.com/finehawklady) and I got to tweet with her during the convention too. Having a friend like a Amanda was the next best thing to being there.  Follow her on Twitter to get more information during the remainder of the election season!
