Celebrating Black Maternal Health Week #BMHW25

Mom and three kids Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Black Maternal Health Week April 11-17, 2025 I am a Black mom to three wonderful children. I was blessed to have three successful births. While I am an attorney, my third delivery highlighted the potential risks that occur when a physician fails to listen to the birthing person. Mommy Mondays: When Working Moms Get Tired They Still Have to Play!

Being a mom who works full time can be exhausting. Indeed, getting up early, exercising and working all day can leave you spent at the end of the day, even if you like your job. Sometimes, the only thing that you want to do is curl up on a sofa and watch television with a snack and possibly probably a glass of wine.

Working Moms Get Tired, But They Have to Play Anyway!

When you have a toddler exhaustion is a feeling you cannot indulge. They demand engagement. Also, if you have a toddler like mine, she feels like it is her God given right to play with me when I get home. And her favorite place to play is the playground.

I've written previously about the perils of the playground. However, the truth is, it is generally a lot of fun. There are kids running around and sometimes a parent will bring a boom box that plays tunes. The other thing that my daughter, and her mama, really likes to do is dance. So, the music becomes the soundtrack of our play time and makes it more fun. While I'll never be the parent with the boom box, I do enjoy it.

It's funny how being at the playground chases the exhaustion away!

(Stay tuned for posts about our weekend trip to Presque Isle in Erie, Pa.!)
