Carnegie Science Center TO HOST no-kids night WITH
WIGLE WHISKEY
21+ NIGHT to Explore SCIENCE OF Distilling
I know you love your kids, but have you ever thought that being at the
Carnegie Science Center might be more fun without them and with cocktails?! If
so, you’re in luck! The Carnegie Science Center is hosting a 21+ event for the
sexy set. So, I think that you should be there! More details appear below.
PITTSBURGH,
August 2, 2013 ― Carnegie Science Center will open
for adults only on Friday, Aug. 9, from 6-10 pm, for an evening titled 21+
Whiskey.
For just
$10 in advance ($15 beginning at noon on Aug. 9), 21+ Night will offer a chance
for adults ages 21 and up to explore
the science behind the whiskey-making process from grinding the grain, to
fermentation, to distillation.
Adults
will have access to all four floors of exhibits, including BIKES: Science on
Two Wheels, SeaScape, the Miniature Railroad and Village®, SpacePlace, and
roboworld™. There will be a cash bar with a signature Wigle Whiskey
drink, and snacks will be available for purchase.
21+
Whiskey will feature a live performance by Southern
rock band “Sour Mash,” as well as a variety of hands-on exhibits, science demos,
and presentations by Wigle Whiskey:
· Find out Pittsburgh’s role in the
Whiskey Rebellion and learn about the history of whiskey in the Works Theater.
Plus, “Ask the Distiller” your questions.

Take a shot at grinding grain the
old-fashioned way, using a hand grinder.
·
Learn the science behind yeast and
enzymes to explore the inner workings of fermentation. Find out what yeast
needs in order to eat a lot of sugar and investigate
how an enzyme converts sucrose into glucose.

Explore distillation and find out
how it works. Learn how the process can be used to make distilled water or
essential oils. Plus, discover how Wigle Whiskey alters and adjusts the flavor
of their whiskey.

Discover another use for whiskey!
Watch how this distilled alcoholic beverage lights fruit on fire to make a
tasty treat in the show “Fruit FlambĂ©,” at the Kitchen Theater.
People ages 21
and over can register for this event by calling 412.237.3400 and pressing 7, or they may click on 21+
Night on the homepage of the website, http://CarnegieScienceCenter.org. The $10 per
person advance ticket price is available only until noon on Aug. 9; thereafter,
tickets will be sold for $15.
As a
special perk, all registrants will receive a coupon for $15 in free slot play
at Rivers Casino upon check-in, while supplies last.
21+ Night
is sponsored by Trib Total Media, Bob FM, Q 92.9, Benson Lincoln, and Yelp. The
USS Requin submarine and Highmark SportsWorks® will not be open
that evening.
