A Secret to Success as a Working Mom: Use Dresses to Stay Cool and Stylish in Hot Weather

Greetings from Chaton's World in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! My days often start with laundry, early-morning emails, and making my kids a hot breakfast. They often end with late-night homework checks, making Instagram reels, and appearing on Celebrity Court of Public Opinion. Somewhere in between, I’m navigating boardrooms, working towards deadlines, and immersed in the good, bad, and ugly chaos of motherhood and household management. As a working mom of three and a professional carving out space in corporate environments, I share my journey of balancing leadership with loving my family, and I sprinkle it with self-care tips. Here, you’ll find honest reflections, hard-earned lessons, and practical strategies for creating an authentic life that you enjoy. If you’re trying to do it all without losing yourself in the process, you have found your sister in the struggle!  Continue reading to discover some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world.

A Peek Into the Life of a Working Mom: Date Night

This weekend we got to have couple time. And couple time is always good!  Anybody who has kids understands that it is important to get away from them sometimes. One way to do that is find a someone who comes to your house and watches your kids on a weekend night.  If you’re really lucky, you have a relative who volunteers to do it for free.  If you’re not, you find a babysitter who’s willing to do it economically.  Either way, getting out as a couple is important.  I know this and still it took me nearly five months to get out with my husband after our latest child was born.  Knowing and doing are completely different things.

Every couple needs a date night

Because we live in the hottest part of Pittsburgh from my perspective, we are able to walk to lots of restaurants and bars or take the subway.  Our Saturday adventure led us to Eddie Merlot’s, Pittsburgh’s newest steak and seafood restaurant.  We got off of the “T” at Gateway Center and discovered this great restaurant.  We intended to bar hop, but we enjoyed Eddie Merlot’s so much that we stayed all night.  It was great to enjoy a new spot and even better to have alone time with my man. I had forgotten how much fun that could be!

When the bartender heard that we hadn't been out in so long Eddie Merlot's gave us two free red velvet cupcakes to celebrate.

We also received instructions to "get out more".  I think we're going to heed that advice! And, we're likely going to find ourselves at Eddie Merlot's again.  The food was delicious. The service was amazing. And, the decor was stunning.

(Thanks to our wonderful babysitter Emily who made this night happen!)
