As a working mom, I don't get to take as many vacations as I would like, even with my company's decent
Paid Time Off policy. For that reason, we try to make our weekends special by enjoying our local treasures.
For weekend trips, we have to rely on hotels since I don't own
the beach house that I dream for, and I cannot jet away for the weekend to a place that has all of my clothes, is fully stocked with food and my favorite movies. As a transplant to
Pittsburgh from
North Carolina, I believed that I had to sacrifice going to the beach for the weekend. That was before I discovered,
Presque Isle in
Erie. When Andre first told me about Presque, Isle, I thought it would be lame. However, I have been pleasantly surprised.
Presque Isle, the Hamptons of Western Pennsylvania
Presque Isle is the
Hamptons of
Western Pennsylvania.
It is a beach in Erie that is much better than one would ever suspect. It is beautiful and a fantastic place to play with the kids, cookout, and throw the football around. You can spend the day there and forget that you are in
Pennsylvania! And if you stay at the
Sheraton Bayfront, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the lake that really makes you feel like you took a true vacation. I encourage all Pittsburghers who love the beach to give Presque Isle a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
