I moved to Pittsburgh ten years ago. And ever since I have struggled with the answer to the question, "what should I do on New Year's Eve?"   Contrary to popular opinion, the most liveable city" can be hard to navigate socially. That said, with good planning and a reliable baby sitter a working mom can have a really good time in Pittsburgh on New Year's Eve without resorting to watching "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest" on TV.

The options run the gamut from high society to something only a true yinzer would do. And since the Steelers are in the playoffs you can rest assured that everyone will be in a party mood, even if it's supposed to be cold enough to build an igloo.

Celebrate the New Year on the waterunder the stars: 3…2…1…HAPPY NEW YEAR! Ring in 2015 with your closest friends and family out on the Three Rivers! The Gateway Clipper is the best Pittsburgh attraction to have a New Year’s Eve Party!

New York City has the ball drop and Pittsburgh has First Night--Highmark First Night Pittsburgh, a production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, is an arts-focused, alcohol-free, and family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.  It’s the largest single-day celebration in the region offering 150 events at nearly 50 indoor and outdoor locations within the 14-block Cultural District, attracting nearly 50,000 visitors each year.

Detroit is the Motor City, but this New Year's Eve Pittsburgh has Motown--MOTOWN THE MUSICAL is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more. Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat. Experience the story behind the music in the record-breaking smash hit MOTOWN THE MUSICAL! (If you check out the show, you just might see me there!)
