Celebrating Black Maternal Health Week #BMHW25

Mom and three kids Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Black Maternal Health Week April 11-17, 2025 I am a Black mom to three wonderful children. I was blessed to have three successful births. While I am an attorney, my third delivery highlighted the potential risks that occur when a physician fails to listen to the birthing person. Hurricane Irma Made Me Count My Blessings

Life is a series of moments. The secret to success is maximizing the good ones and minimizing the bad ones. As working moms we know that we'll have days that are punctuated by tears, traffic, and trials. However, other days are full of family, fun and frolicking on the beach!

I'd love to say that I'm an expert on this type of living. However, I'm not. Sometimes, I fall short. I major in the minor, perseverate on the negative and lose my cool and my patience...

That said, I try to remember to live this way and I look for reminders in my experiences. Recently, we were vacationing at Myrtle Beach while the weathermen were forecasting the effects of Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean and Florida. During that time, I felt compassion for those affected. I also felt incredibly grateful to be sharing such enjoyable times with my family.

I decided to share these thoughts with you in case you needed a reminder as well. Hope all is well in your world!

(Our prayers are with those who faced the affects of the recent Hurricanes in the Caribbean, Florida, and Houston.)
