Let’s use the spirit of Halloween to Help Us Be More Human All Year ‘Round

Mom celebrating the Halloween spirit Halloween is a season of fun, costumes , and candy . Indeed, it has become a favorite of mine. The kids get excited about their costumes, and spending the evening visiting neighbors and receiving candy in response to their declaration of, " Trick or Treat "! All around the country, neighbors open their doors and give candy to anyone who shows up seeking it. Upon reflection, it is a beautiful tradition that embodies the generosity of the human spirit. I was talking to someone yesterday and commented about how much I have grown to enjoy it and wished that it could last for more than one night.

Thoughts of Thanksgiving...

Thanksgiving is a special time. It involves family traditions of eating tasty food and coming together. Last year, my dear friend and her girls joined us from Texas. We showed them a Pittsburgh good time. I've included a photo of us (minus their mom who was napping) from Market Square with Santa.

Indeed, Market Square and the People's Holiday Market is one of my favorite Pittsburgh traditions. It is decorated like a European market and there are treats and sites to see. My sister and I took the girls on a walk through downtown and we even went up to Mount Washington to give them the best view of the city. Of course, they had to take the incline, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

As usual, Thanksgiving dinner included our family and other dear friends--all twenty plus of us. And we had all of our family favorites, mostly cooked by my mom. As the years go on, I am ever grateful to have her in my life healthy and sound. So, on this Thanksgiving eve, I have a grateful heart.  I am reflecting on Thanksgivings past and I am looking forward to tomorrow.

HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
