One Secret to Success as a Working Mom: Stay Open to New Experiences

In the movie Love Jones , the male lead says, "romance is about the possibility of the thing." I agree with that. However, I think that the concept is more universal. life--truly living--is about the possibility of the thing. For a while, I was sleep walking through life, doing what was required without truly embracing it. Recent events have caused me to re-evaluate that and to embrace life and all of its limitless possibilities.   And romance, is about love. Over the past year I have become committed to falling back in love with my life. New relationships have made that love affair possible. And, I don't take them for granted. Creating space for new relationships and making new friends as a single, working mom, and creating space is not easy. But it is necessary. “Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called "life..."
--Prince

A good friend of mine coined a phrase, “We’re all in this together.” And that concept is no more real than it relates to health care. Despite the superficial things that separate us, we are all human beings sharing this spiritual and physical experience called life. In this life, we are all touched by its miracles and its tragedies. Indeed, we all have experienced or known people who have experienced the joy of bringing a child into the world and the heartbreak that comes with losing someone too soon because of disease.
Diseases like cancer, autoimmune disorders, and cardiac disease steal lives.
Like everyone else. I have been touched by these illnesses. I have been to more funerals than I would have liked within the past few years for people that I loved who were stricken with illness that they could not overcome. The world has been less bright after their passings and their families have been heartbroken.
What if there was actually something that you could do that could contribute to the future of medicine and possibly save lives--helping your family as well as others???

The "All of Us" Research Program is Seeking Volunteers to Create Precision Medicine

Well, you can. The University of Pittsburgh has launched the “All of Us” Campaign. The goal of this campaign is to get 1 million people to share their health information with researchers to help transform medicine. The goal is for the researchers to collect enough health-related information that can provide more precise care for patients. "Precise" care means personalized medical care that is more specific and effective because it takes into account personal factors like where you live, what you do and family history and genetics. In a word, The University of Pittsburgh wants us all to lead healthier, richer, and more productive lives.
“Assuring good health for all of us is work that requires great resolve, intent, and wisdom. [E]ach of us must contribute to that work if we are to have an enlightened society!” Arthur S. Levine, MD, Senior Vice Chancellor for the Health Sciences, John and Gertrude Petersen Dean, School of Medicine.
