Celebrating Black Maternal Health Week #BMHW25

Mom and three kids Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Things have been busy. I am still a working mom of three, working full time who is trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and try to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that we can learn together. Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world. Black Maternal Health Week April 11-17, 2025 I am a Black mom to three wonderful children. I was blessed to have three successful births. While I am an attorney, my third delivery highlighted the potential risks that occur when a physician fails to listen to the birthing person. Initially, I chalked it up to the physician involved and limited it to my personal birthing experience. Then, I learned that I was not special. Back to School Season!

The coolest kid in Kindergarten

My youngest kid is cool. This photo says it all. It was taken last year by his Montessori teacher. I found it on the class website. I have no reason why he was throwing up the deuces in a random class photo taken at his Catholic school. But there he is, in true, "I am being raised by people who know what's up" fashion.

The First Day of School is Coming

He, and his brother start school this week. I cannot believe that he'll be starting Kindergarten. I am surprised that I am emotional about it. It marks the end of an era. I have no more babies and I will have no more babies. From this time forward, I will be in child raising, child rearing, and child educating mode. The task now is preparing all of them for college and the real world. Where did the time go?!

I intend to post about the first day of school, our preparing for it, our executing it, and hopefully our enjoying it. That said, I wanted to share this photo of my youngest--the coolest kid starting Kindergarten this year. As the youngest, he often has to share. However, on this day, he has a post all of his own because he is staking his own claim on the world.

Deuces!
