One Secret to Success for a Working Mom, Expand Your Village (Jack and Jill of America)

Jack and Jill of America member and her daughter Recently, I have become keenly aware that good kids are created by accident. They become good because someone made a concerted effort to pour positive things into them--things like, honor, discipline and respect for others. These qualities are taught through lessons and by observation. For that reason, I have been actively considering how to give my children more examples of people who embody those qualities.  Indeed, raising my children to become good people is my most important job.

A Secret to Working Mom's Success: Enjoy The Journey

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Life has been hectic as I juggle being a full-time  working mom of three while trying to make a difference. I do a lot of things and aim to be present so that I can learn from them. I share them on this blog so that you can learn from my mistakes and successes and we can gain mutual understanding. I truly believe that a rising tide lifts all boats.  Below are some thoughts, hacks, and/or lessons that I have learned from navigating my world.

This week's lesson is to enjoy the journey, even if it requires significant effort! I have three children. Getting out of the house to go anywhere--especially if we want to arrive on time--seems to require the patience of Job, the organization of Marie Kondo and the creativity of Martha Stewart! Sometimes, it seems like the juice isn't worth the squeeze and I should abandon my desires to provide them with a life full of culture and frivolity and become hermits who only go to work and school.

Then, I think to myself, what fun would that be?! And so, despite the challenges, despite the sibling bickering and despite the mama yelling (working on that! :-)) I persevere and attempt to curate the life that I think will be most beneficial to their upbringing.

For the record, I am not a masochist. It's just that have discovered that fun is often the reward of making the effort! And so I press. on. One such event that started with frustration and ended in fun is the "Dancing Under the Stars" event that was recently hosted by Pittsburgh Ballet Theater!

Every August Pittsburgh Ballet Theater entertains thousands of dance fans with its season-opening performance under the stars. This year, my family was among those fans! If you follow this blog you may know that my daughter is a ballerina. She begins her first year as a pre-professional with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater this year.

One of the cool thing about her love of dance is that it has opened doors for all of us and given us opportunities to have fun like enjoying a night of dance under the stars! Pittsburgh Ballet Theater knows how to throw a party. There was food, fun  and fellowship with new friends. We all had a great time, even the boys who may have been more impressed by the desserts than the dance. Still, the great thting was, there was something for everybody!

Here's to having more fun!!!

Great insights in this blog! As maternal health becomes more of a priority, it's essential to highlight the importance of Postnatal wellness in San Diego. New mothers often need continued support after childbirth, and services that focus on physical recovery, emotional balance, and newborn care make a huge impact. I recently came across Bridge Prenatal, which offers compassionate and personalized postnatal care. It's reassuring to see organizations committed to supporting moms through every step of their journey. Thanks for raising awareness!
